Dragon Nest SEA Tenacious Title Guide

Collection Booklet Page 10 "Tenacious" Title!
+25 Str, +25 Agi, +23 Int, +20 Vit, +40 Phys Atk, + 40 Magic Atk, +5 Final Atk
-This is easily the strongest title you can gain with very little effort, and it's easier to obtain while you're still a low level.
So how do you obtain it? You must collect a series of 8 titles to complete the requirement for Tenacious (seen on page 10 of your Collection Book).

The easiest way is to obtain them in this order (this follows your path as you level up and progress through the game) :

-1.Gobbs Beater

Able to complete at : Lv8
Quest : (Lv8) From Goblin Pappy found outside of Prairie Village. (Must finish prerequisite quests from him first.)
He gives you a quest to rescue his son Gobleen at Ancient Temple - Site (lv8-9).
-Instead of rescuing his son, as soon as you find him, left click to attack him, then finish him off before the monsters do.
If you killed him successfully, this title will appear on your screen.
*If you have completed this quest already you can find someone who has it as well.

-2. Killed by Hounds
Able to complete at : Lv9
Location : Maroda Valley (lv9-10) (with the hooker elves on the picture)
When you get to the third zone on this map there's a huge bridge.
After killing all the monsters on one side a cutscene will play with hounds running down the bridge.
-Just stand tight and let the hounds pee all over you until you die. You will receive the title upon death.

-3. Stoned to Death
Able to complete at : Lv12
Location : Sanctuary - Forest (lv12-14) (North of Cadillac, picture of a gargoyle)
*Note : If you're a high level already, this WILL take some time; make sure you lose a ton of hp before hand.
At the end of a map you'll be in a hall with a few blue goblins and orcs. kill everyone EXCEPT for the blue goblins.
-Run from the blue goblins or harass them a bit to get them to throw rocks at you. Once dead by a rock you will receive this title.
(These goblins have terrible aim so if you aren't starting out prepare to sit there for awhile.)
*Additional Note : You might not get the title the first time. the game's gay like that :|

-4. Afraid of Cattle
Able to complete at : Lv14
Location : Sleeper's (Eruku) Temple (lv14-15). (Lower Ridge to the left)
-When you reach the boss, let him mow you down. Upon death you will receive this title.

-5. Troll Balls
Able to complete at : Lv14(or 9; this map is bugged to let in lower levels early)
Location : Raiders Ambush Point (lv14-15) (Picture of a blue goblin-rat thing)
On the second map you'll find a troll if you go left or right (big blue thing that looks like jennifer aniston)
-Just sit around while the troll bowls you down. Upon death you'll achieve this title.

-6. Tread on Rocks
Able to complete at : Lv22(or 16. again this map is bugged.)
Location : Road of No Return (lv22-24) (aka Do not go back that way! It's on the other side of maroda.)
-Get molested by the boss. You'll get this title on death.

-7. In the Dead Hound
Able to complete at : Lv22(or 16. bugged~)
Location : Sanctuary Core (lv22-24) (one above the gargoyle one, has a shadow for the picture.)
Keep progressing until you find some angry armored hounds in a room scattered with spike traps.
-Clear the room except for armored hounds, and die to them in a corner or something. Title on Death.

-8. Defeated by the Orc King
Able to complete at : Lv22
Quest : (Lv22) From Warrior Master Chandler in Cadillac.
Showdown with the Orc King in Sleeper's (Eruku) Prayers Resting Place (Lv22-24).
*Note : This guy is more afraid of you so lose a lot of hp beforehand (especially if you're high leveled)
-Once you get to the cutscene of the Orc with USI, Stand around and let him beat you down. You'll get this title upon death.
*If you have completed this quest already you can find someone who has it as well.

And that's all there is to it. a very nice title at the cost of beating up a little kid and dying in weird situations! :|

Unfortunately this title is still not implemented in Dragon Nest Sea. Maybe on October 18 this title will be activated for our benefit.

Macchi's Optimized Priest - Inquisitor Build

Introduction:

Although I am known for being a merc, I am also the proud owner of a priest. For a long time I have struggled with which tertiary job to choose. I strongly believed that Saint was an obvious choice due to their overwhelming DPS and Support abilities. However now the gap has been closed quite a bit.

With the duo-ultimate system, the Inquisitor finally lives up to his role. As with my destroyer build (found here), I have optimized the Inquisitor based on the versatility that the duo-ultimate system gives us.

Section I:
Inquisitor
i)Essential Skills/Skill Chart (duo-ultimate considered)
ii) Explanation of changes.
iii)Controversial Decisions and Justifications
iv) Heraldry

I. Essential Skills/ Skill Chart (duo-ultimate considered)

Cleric

Notable Choices: Heal is not maxed to optimize the SP usage of the Priest class.

Priest

Comments: Explained later in the guide.

Inquisitor

II. Explanation of changes.

The duo-ultimate system takes away some negative things about this class, and gives them two amazing skills.

Inquisitor now has Miracle Hand, and a potent Healing Hand.

Simply put, the duo ultimate system is used to bypass the level 5 requirement of Electronic Detonation and save the player 16 Skill Points, which are invested into a more worthy skill: Healing Hand.

III. Controversial Decisions and Justifications

Why Healing Hand?
I have chosen Healing Hand in build because I feel that healing abilities are what made the Saint superior. By obtaining a more worthy healing skill, I feel that Inquisitors have become a much more efficient support class with the added ability of abusing the shock de-buff. In group pvp this translates into a very versatile and very dangerous killing machine.

However proponents of other game-play styles are free to distribute the skill points wherever they may feel something is lacking.

Why reduce the skill points from Heal?
I feel that Heal is one of those skills with poor growth. If you want a stronger heal skill consider removing the desired skill points from block (not recommended) or getting a Heal plate.

Alternative builds may feature Heal at level one to opt for a more potent block skill.

IV. Heraldry

Inquisitor is a very versatile class with the duo ultimate path. My personal heraldry preference is at follows:

-Miracle Hand Plate (CD)
-Relic of Cure Plate (CD)
-Relic of Heal Plate (CD)
-A damage plate (Electronic Detonation/Lighting Bolt/Holy Bust/Concentration, etc.)

Although this is my personal preference, alternative builds can vary depending on what purpose they were designed for.

Gateo's Acrobat - Windwalker PVP Skill Build

Acrobats can turn into Tempest/Wind Walker at lv45, this is my Wind Walker Skill Build, its good for all PvP situations, and does ok in dungeons/nests.

Skills in Red are maxed out to maximize damage.
Skills in Green are maxed out to minimize CD time for more survivability/mobility.

Elodie's Bowmaster - Sniper Party Build (PVE-Oriented)

Skill Tree:

I call this a party build because it's featured by the maxed Bull's Eyes at lv11. At this level, the target's Ranged Defense is reduced by 60%. (For experiments of this skill plz c this thread post #500.)This debuff works for party members too as long as they use ranged skills. All magical skills are considered as ranged skills.

Saurus Fire Elemental Lord Guide - Choices of Gears, Potentials and Stats

This is a simple guide on FireEle/Seleana stats.

-In this guide you will learn:
1) Important offensive stats: Finding the balance btw Matk-Crit-Fire%
2) Important defensive stats
3) What crests to get: and what 3rd options to get for those crests
4) Which options to get on your gears.
5) Which prefix to add onto your gears.

1) Important Offensive Stats:

-First know that the Crit cap is reached at around 10K Crit for lv40 target and 18k for lv50 mobs.

-Matk:  Focus on increasing this stat if you have no hope of reaching the crit cap at your target level.  If you are close to reaching the crit cap; then sacrifice your matk and focus solely on increasing your crit.

-Crit: In fighting mobs with high defense, this is the stat that differentiates a weak Seleana from a strong one.
-In terms of overall dmg in lv50abyss stages; 4.5k matk with 17k Crit >>>> 8k matk with 5k Crit.
-A critical strike on a lvl50 target will more than double/triple your non-crit attacks, provided that they are not resisted by the target.

-At lv24 and 32cap, you can ignore crit, because---
#1 mobs at these levels do not have high phy/mag defense; which means that the dmg from crit is not much higher than your norm attack.
-A critical strike on a lv24~32 target will probably increase your dmg by x1.2~1.4 the non-crit dmg.
#2 Also, you'll need around 8-9k crit to see lots of crit even at lv24/32 cap...so dont bother building your crit. Go stack Matk instead:)

-Fire element % Max this only after reaching the Crit cap at your target level.

-Final Damage (FD) Recommended for the rich..this stat comes last after having increased your crit, matk, and Fire%.
-Very good for lv40 mobs and below.  (stack around 860 FD to double dmg)
-Also works on lv40++ mobs, but  currently its effect is not that great unless you can manage to stack  around 1.5k FD at lv50.

-Int: the more the better, get this to increase your matk and total MP.

2) Important Defensive Stats
These are the stats you must raise for better survivability.
-Agi The more the better.  Will not directly contribute to your damage out put, however, it’ll increase your Critical and Critical resist; both of which are key stats for a mage.
-Hp:  The more the better.
-Vit:  The more the better, get this to increase HP.
-Mp:  The more the better. Dry mana=dead.  Mp regen is important to prevent mana from drying.
-Crit Resist --- Very important stat.  Strikes that hurt you the most (and perhaps 1hit KO you in nests) are those attacks that Crit on you.
As you know from reading Chaos’ post about Crit&Crit resist, Crit resist increases the chance of you reducing the dmg that you’ll receive from an enemy’s attack that has crit on you.  NOW an interesting phenomenon happens with mages. Because our defense is very low, when we are able to resist those crits, we end up taking significantly less dmg than what the enemy’s non-crit attack (ie. Normal attack) would do to us.
---So you can think of yourself as the Ogre in apo nest.. you have super high Crit resist   and a Very low def = your opponent’s critical strikes will deal less dmg than their non-critical strikes.
-Therefore, in general, higher crit resist=better survivability.
At lv40  aim for 12~15k Crit resist.
At lv50  aim for 20k (but this is hard to reach so 12k is fine)

3) What Crest to Get
I recommend getting the A grade crests (with 3rd option if possible) for the following:
-Matk
-Int
-Agi
-Crit resist
-Vital
-Critical
-HP
-Final Damage (@lv50)

-So what 3rd option on the crest?
-Crit ---top priority until you can reach the crit cap.
-Vit or Matk ---after you have reached the crit cap, Vit for survivability and Matk for more dmg.

4) Which Options to get on your gears.

What is the best option to add on my weapon?
-For players who have reached the crit cap (10k @lv40; 18k @ lv50), the recommended option is Fire%, agi, int. (easy to get this one)

-For those unable to reach the crit cap:
#1 Matk 5.7%+ Int+ Agi+ MP regen 17% +Critical 17%  (or any variation with Matk 5.7% and Crit 17% combo)

#2 Agi + Int +Critical 17% (and any variation of this… just need that crit+17% option)

What is the best option to add onto my armor?
-For players who has reached the crit cap
VIT + INT + HP
-For those unable to reach the crit cap:
AGI + VIT+ HP  or  AGI + INT + HP

5) Which prefix to add onto your gears.
If you want to solo nest once in a while, go with the life prefix.
-On your weapons add the Life prefix.
-On the 4 armor parts add the life prefix.
-Because no life prefix is available for the head gear, add the Wise prefix to it (the one that adds Int.)

If you don't plan on soloing nests..
-add Wise prefix rather than the Magic prefix.
-or if you need that extra crit/crit resist add the agile prefix.

Kel's Elemental Lord PVE Skill Build

This skill build is offensive, with the two shields at lvl 2 only. More Sps are invested on damaging skills. The main damaging skills in this build are flameroad, ice stab, firebird, fireball and rolling lava. All these skills are at their max. lvl.

With this skill build, we need to blink to dodge the opponent skill. We can activate both shields and cast flame vortex at critical moment. The drawback is we cannot tank unlike other paladin-eles who have all their shields at lvl 5 and both shield crest.

Ignition. This skill has largest AOE among all EL's skills, and it has high damage comparable to fireball. The drawback of this skill is long CD, long casting time and it negates the burning state and thus reduce the burning damage of other skills. Therefore, it is not useful against big boss. However it is very effective in clearing small mobs and clearing abyss dungeon.

Flame Spark. This skill deals decent damage. The advantage of this skill is its long range, fast casting time and fast CD. Whenever u blink away to dodge, u can cast flame spark immediately. This skill also has highest growth among all ele's skills.

Below is an alternate build with lvl 1 ignition and lvl 9 flame spark.

Snow Undine's Semi PVP Elemental Lord Skill build

Sorceress Skills
============

Flame Worm: Just level 5 to enable fire skill tree of elemental lord.

Glacial Spike:  Just level 5 to enable ice skill tree of elemental lord.

Poison Cloud: level 12 already can deal 3 pieces on ground. Useful in PVP

Shockwave: Level 1 enough to bounce the enemy away when you being attack.

MP Party Buff : No need SP. So , learn it for your own good and your party members too.

Blink : Max~~~! for your safety!!

Counter Spell: Bounce enemy away when you going to stand up when kissing the floor.

Escape, aerial evasion:Max for safety.

Physical Mastery: level 1 only due to insufficient point

MP Regen: In the coming version, EL must up this skill at least level 1...but i think that still no enough for you because EL's shield going function like paladin's aura, can switch on and off. It consume a lot mp. Advise to wear the MP recover plate, good in pve.

Elemental Lord Skills
==================
Fire Ball : I left this skill for 1 level because it is quite useful in pvp and pve too..beside damage not bad. but as i m undine , so i didnt up much because still need to save points to my ice skill.

Flame Spark : CD short and use it when you blink. it something can delay some enemy motion in pvp. This time i just level 1 because...no enough point=.=!
Inferno: Level 6 to increase the attack range, original range is 5m and it will become 7m when level 6...er..i also forget why i up to level 7=.=..omg waste sp.

Firewall : make enemy fly to sky!!!but dont use it on sm and arcobat...you know..they a lot of aerial skills.

FireShield: just to enable flame road.
Flame Road : Just use it to chase enemy in pvp and damage on pve. If you want more powerful in pvp,u can max it, that was crazy damage...(exprienced with my friend while he is fire EL with max flame road, me burned until dead=.=)

Frost Wind: Short CD same as Flame Spark too. but this skill you can either level 1 or higher, since it got the effect of reduce ice resist,so i choose to up it. but although different level, the time of reduce speed is remain same = 4seconds.

Freezing Sword : Level 11 to enable EX skill of undine. This time going to max it...because i wearing Freezing Sword plate, increase 20% damage, and EX, increase 30%...

Freezing Field: This time , i did not up this skill full.although it damage is very high and when higher level..the time of reduce speed can reach until 7 seconds(if i not mistaken.). but this skill's CD is too long compare to ice stab and freezing sword. And it easy to dodge by rivals in pvp. but once they being hit..there are no ways to run from us. this skill reduce 33% of ice resist. so i just up to enable next skill.

Ice Stab: This skill recommended to max too because it deal great damage when it max level. In addition, it short CD too. But this time my build going hybrid, so i need to move some points to fire skills. so i just left them to level 2.

Freezing shield : max it!! since it got a very very LOW chance to FREEZE enemy when you active this skill. And in the coming version, we can switch on this skill anytime if you want, and it will freeze enemy around you. max it and wearing a reduce damage skill plate can make you can reduce 63% of the damage from enemy!(while priest MH reduce 70%...gg) but it will consume a lot of mp if you keep on it...

Chilling Mist : MAX!! as it is the symbol skill of undine~! although it CD time was increase in pvp. but this skill is deal crazy damage once the rival in front of you. Besides that, it will slow down the rivals.

Glacial Wave : Can freeze people 100%, if the enemy not under invincible. After T3, it freezing time increase by level. For pvp, it recommended to max or you wear A skill crest so enemy no to fast to break the ice. But i didnt up max because i think level 6, 4seconds in pvp is enough for me. In the future, freeze status will not easy to break by party member too.

Icy Fraction: Good DPH(damage per hit) skill. it will deal damage to the enemy that under slow state or frozen. You will see the crazy damage when you fight with the mobs that weak to water or party a paladin that got elemental aura. And enemy will be slow down around 4seconds?, after eat this skill. But if enemy jump when u cast this skill, it may missed=.=! i max it because i use it mostly for pve, and to pawn head in pvp.

Blizzard : Erm... This skill will most effective when you reduce ice resist of enemy. If not, the damage no much good. But this is good to use when there are a lot mobs. And it got chance to freeze the mobs when they get hit. This skill cannot cancel once you use.

For Undine skill
===========

Ice Barrier: as undine, sure we must try the new skill~! this skill may be useless in pvp(In pvp just absorb 80% damage..so you still will receive 20% of the damage)..and all see you holding an "egg shell" all sure run far far away..lol..But it good to use in pve It will protect you and absorb 100% of the damage, until the damage that you receive higher then you matk.

Ice Spear : I heard that this skill damage is very low...lolx...around 2k attack undine use this skill and deal around hundred++ damage per hit on rivals..but it is attack with all directions and high chance to freeze enemy!

Freezing Sword EX : Improve 30% damage of freezing sword~

AceOfSpade Swordmaster - Gladiatior Skill Build

Introduction
Hello all, recently i was asked to write a bit about Gladiators despite me being the most terribad warrior around. So, what are Gladiators you ask? Well... they are fun as heck slice and dice heroes who deal great consistant damage while looking awesome! Hopefully this guide will be of some use to you fledgling warriors though!

Skills

So why have i picked what i picked?
As a physical swordmaster you may find that the cooldown for the bulk of your abilities are very slow. More over, the damage on many of your abilities are lower in comparison to other class's abilities. In terms of skill builds, there are many other ways to build a Gladiator so feel free to experiment a little as you get several skill reset scrolls as you progress throughout the game. Here's a run though of the bulk of my abilities.

Warrior Skills
So, warrior skills. What do you get? Well the obvious ones are Dash, Tumble and Evade. Beyond that its useful to get the extra HP boost and MP regeneration.

Rising Slash
Get this to level 6 for the extra jump! This follows nicely into Aerial Combo, but don't get into the habit of always using the Aerial Combo in PvP!

Moonlight Splitter
Moonlight Splitter is a useful skill for PvE and PvP. This is mainly because Moonlight Splitter has a lower cooldown than practically all of the physical skills and as a result is a useful opener and bridger between your moves. It also gives you something to do when outside of melee range.

Cyclone Slash
A gladiator lacks any much crowd control with physical skills alone so i got cyclone slash to assist my character in PvE. Its also a useful catcher in PvP, albeit difficult to land.

Triple Slash
Triple Slash is an okay skill. Most of its usefulness comes from the fact that it's instant (like a fair few physical skills) and that you can stop mid-way and dodge if need be. I've levelled it to 11 so that i can use Triple Slash EX. This is another method for air-comboing your enemies.

Physical Skills
The other skills such as Aerial combo and Deep Straight have been left fairly low. I would've left Deep Straight even lower but i no longer have a skill reset scroll . The reason for this is that the damage from these abilities is poor unless you pour all of your skill points into the physical tree. Hacking Stance is another skill you could afford to spend less skill points on as well, but i personally love to use it in PvP and lvled it for a little more damage.

Similarly, Dash Combo, Eclipse and Counter Exile are all fun and useful skills, but their damage capability is low, so its better to spend your extra skill points elsewhere. Eclipse a great skill for when you're surrounded, but when your in a party with people casting AOE abilities, it might be better to save it rather than using it to spread out a group of bunched up enemies.

Line Driver
Such a lovely skill . Line Driver rewards good positioning and is a great damage dealer on large and trapped targets. It does slightly less damage on smaller single targets as it has a tendency to shoot you right through them.

Utility Skills
Skills such as Highlander and Hemorrahage are important skills to have. Highlander is also free... so definitely tap that. It's a good skill for keeping your teammates alive! So if you keep an eye out for drastically falling health bars when in a party, you might just save someone! Hemorrahage benefits the whole team, enhancing everyone's damage, so i've maxed it out.

The Parry Tree is a necessary skill if you intend to go into Sea Dragon Nest parties and survive. It can also be useful in dodging some of those boss attacks in regular dungeons and nests.

Evasion Slash
I'm not quite sure what to think of this ability. As a physical sword master, alot of your abilities thrust you forwards at the enemy, but Evasion Slash does the opposite and twirls you back. I find it useful if you're surrounded. I've levelled it to 2 for the extra damage but you could leave it at 1 as i don't feel its necessary.

Finishing Attack
Another nifty skill. Use it on a boss under 40% hp and revel in the awesome damage!

Build

As a Gladiator you're going to get up close and personal with a lot of bosses. Its vital then you can deal damage and have the survivability to withstand the damage you fail to dodge. My build is still far from optimal but i've chosen to take the critical damage route. Why did i take the critical route? Mainly because Final Damage as a 3rd stat is incredibly hard to find on crests, making it harder to stack effectively and also because Totam Armour doesn't provide any dark %. You should also consider getting Magical Defence crests as Swordmasters typically lack in MDEF.

As mentioned previously, there are many ways to build a Gladiator though, such as stacking dark % or Final Damage. You can see here all of the Swordmaster skills affected by dark damage... which is basically all of the physical ones . For myself, the gears i've gotten are an attempt to balance good damage, consistent criticals and survivability.

Equipment
My critical build consists of:
Great Sword: (Destructive)
Gauntlet: (Destructive)
Head: (Dire)
Top: (Wind)
Bottom: (Dire)
Glove: (Life)
Shoe: (Life)

Accessories
Accessories depend on what type of damage you want to build.
For Critical: Fatal Rings and Wind Necklace and Earrings
For Damage: Destructive Rings and Dire/Wind Necklace and Earrings
For Dark Damage: Tough Necklace and Earrings

Koinzell's DPS Mercenary - Barbarian PVE Build

This build is for ppl like me, who likes to put on superarmor and go in whacking recklessly and having fun :D

But bear in mind that to be a true DPS, you will need to pump your equip up, as with any MMO.

Warrior:

Mercenary:

Barbarian:

Why no crisis / counter howl? Because you don't need it in PVE.

Rising Slash is maxed for damage, since I use it frequently and it works well in synergy with Bone Crash.

Taunting lv10 is a must for SDN, and it performs outside of SDN as well to reduce damage taken for you to spam your DPS skills.

Skill Crests:
Whirlwind : Damage + 20%
Rolling Attack : Damage + 20%
Bone Crash: Duration + 20%
Iron Skin: Duration + 20%

Why the Bone Crash plate? because my bone crash is lvl 2 with the new skill ring, and its additional damage helps alot in parties.
The rest is self-explanatory.

Critical and Critical Resist Mechanichs

INTRODUCTION:

Critical stats is a crucial part in boosting damage in Dragon Nest, especially for damage dealing classes. The mechanics of critical damage will be explained in this guide, with some calculation examples.

MECHANICS

What is Critical Damage?

Critical damage is the damage dealt without taking into account the effect of phy/mag defence of your target. A extra multiplier of 1.25 is imposed on that damage too, which is shown in the following equation:

Normal Non-crit damage = (%Amp * M.att + Add. dmg)*(1 - %dmg reduction from defence)

Crit Damage = 1.25 * (%Amp * M.att + Add. Dmg)

1.25 : 1.25 is the crit damage multiplier applied if crit happen.
%Amp: % of skill amplification in the skill description.
M.att: Your magic attack in stats window.
Add. Damage: Additional damage in the skill description.

In battle, the color of the crit damage figure = yellow/gold.

For the sake of the discussion, i call that “Yellow Critical”.

Critical stats in your stats window is a figure that tells you, the probability to deal critical damage.

The equation that convert the stats to the % probability has been derived and proven to be approximately linear.

Now here comes the other important point question.

What is Critical Resist?

A natural idea that comes to mind, is that Critical resist would reduce the chances of your opponent to deal critical damage to yourself. However, that’s absolutely NOT true.

It has been proven also that Critical Resist is actually related to the chance of reducing the critical damage figure dealt to you.

When critical damage is resisted, in addition to the 1.25 multiplier, another multiplier of 0.35 is applied over the damage.

Resisted Crit Damage = 1.25 * 0.35 * (%Amp * M.att + Add. Dmg)

So, resisted critical damage will be much lower than normal non-crit/crit damage.
Critical damage that has been resisted, will appear whitish with a crack across the word "critical". Hence we normally call it “White Critical”. If you’ve fought electric ogre in apocalypse or lava golem in Sea Dragon Nest, you will see this White Critical very often.

I hope that clears up the concept of Crit and Crit resist.

Interestingly, the investigation doesn’t stop there.

Does higher crit reduce the chances of dealing White Crit?

It has also been proven that 10,000 crit and 20,000+ crit has almost the same probability on dealing white crit on the same target with a constant crit resist.

The only effective way to reduce white crit is by using wind prefix weapon.

Crit resist is actually double edge sword type of stats . It will make your opponent deal alot of white crit if he has very high crit stats, while it is useless against an opponent that has very low crit.

Can White Crit damage be higher than normal non-crit damage?

In order for the damage of high crit to surpass the normal non-crit damage, the boss defence need to exceed a certain threshold:

1.25 * 0.35 > ( 1 - def)

def > 56.25%

as you can note from bishop nest (see table below), none of the boss has over 56.25% of defence.

It is actually a pretty high value, which translate to 8438 of defence stats.

So in general, you can say that white crit is lower than non-crit damage, with maybe afew exception for bosses with extremely high defence (> 56.25%, which i am not even sure it exist in DN yet)

Ok, if you have understood everything that i described, you must be wondering why would the developer allow players to get seemingly infinite crit stats if there is a cap of 95% crit chance.

The answer is :

The crit chance is dependant on the level of your target.

Against lv32 monster, 6000 crit stats will net you 95% crit chance.
Against lvl40 monster, 10,000~11,000 crit stats will give you 95% crit chance.
Against lv50 monster, 17,000~18,000 crit stats will give you 95% crit chance.

This explain why some people are seeing less crit damage against high level monsters, especially in lv50 abyss and Darklair (with lv100 monster/boss).

Since the critical stats is proven to be linear, you can scale it according to your current crit stats to find out the % chance to deal critical damage.

Do note that the number above are approximate figures only. Since crit damage is based on probability, the real chance can only be obtained with a lot of test.

CASE STUDY:

Is crit good? What is better? M.att or Elemental Attack or Crit?

These are the most common questions asked in various Dragon Nest forum.

Although the answer is not exactly straight forward, but there are exact answers to these question.

To answer them, you will need to know what is your defence of your target.

Crit and Phy/Mag Defence:

I will use bishop nest bosses as examples:

The bracket behind the boss name shows the stage they appear at.

How do i determine their defence?

1. Take a weapon with no durability (so that your damage won't fluctuate)
2. Use normal attack on the boss.
3. Note down the crit damage and non crit damage.
4. Calculate the m.def by :

M. Def % = 1-  1.25 * Non-crit damage / crit damage

The crit damage is obviously the same, no matter what boss you hit, in my case it is 950 since crit damage ignore the defence of the target.

FYI, The m.def value you see in your stats window can be easily transation into % by using the following conversion

3000 def = 20% damage reduction.

Note that high crit/non crit ratio for the high defence bosses.

This shows that if you crit against high defence boss such as shadow and bishop base, you will get 2.47 times of damage !! On the other hand, if you crit against low defence boss such as assasin, you will only get 1.54 times of damage.

In general, Critical is more effective when the target has high defence and low critical resist.

Choices of Ring

Now lets say my current majesty stats are:

5500 m.attack, 30% dark elemental attack, 8000 crit

And, i am given a choice between:
A) Lv50 A-ranked Magical Ring (153 m.att, 55int)
B) Lv50 A-ranked Critical Ring (1325 crit, 61 agi)
C) Lv50 A-ranked Brilliant Ring (76 m.att, 5.8% dark)

Lets say all of the above doesn't come with potential and i are not wearing any crest or other items with potential (all those will make this example far more complicated, though you can include them once you know the concept)

Assuming no crit resist and no elemental resist on hit, and i am using Lv12 Gravity ball only to deal damage.

Gravity ball lv12: 2.69% + 3760

Which ring should i use?

Since the bosses in bishop nest have very different m.def value, we will take a average for all of them,  which is  34.6%.

=========================

A) Remember that 1 int = 0.75 for mages, so the total damage attack gained is 153 + 0.75*55 = 194

Crit damage = 1.25 * (2.69 * 5694 +3760) * 1.3 = 31000

[ The 1.3 multiper is due to 30% dark elemental attack currently on me ]

Non crit damage = (2.69 * 5694 +3760) * 1.3 * (1-0.346) = 16219

[ The 0.346 is the average damage reduction from defence value of the bishop bosses ]

With 8000 crit, the chance to deal crit damage is

8000/17000*95% = 44.7%.

[ scaling the crit for lvl50 target linearly. ]

Therefore, Average damage = 31000 * 0.447 + 16219 * (1 - 0.447) = 22826

[ average damage = crit damage * crit chance + non crit damage * ( 1- crit chance) ]

=========================

B) I am told that 1 agi = 3.5 critical. So the total gain in crit is 1325+61*3.5 = 1538

Crit damage = 1.25 * (2.69 * 5500 +3760 ) *1.3 = 30152

Non crit damage = (2.69 * 5500 +3760) * 1.3 * (1-0.346)  = 15775

With 8000+ 1538  = 9538 crit, the chance to deal crit damage is

9538 / 17000 * 95% = 53.3%

Therefore, Average damage = 30152 * 0.533 + 15775 * (1-0.533) = 23437

=========================

C) I gain 76 m.att and 5.8% dark by using briliant ring. straight forward.

Crit damage = 1.25 * (2.69 * 5576 +3760 ) *1.358 = 31844

Non crit damage = (2.69 * 5576 +3760) * 1.358 * (1-0.346)  = 16660

With 8000 crit, the chance to deal crit damage is

8000 / 17000 * 95% = 44.7%

Therefore, Average damage = 31844 * 0.447+ 16660* (1-0.447) = 23447

=========================

Here, if i were to maximize the damage of my gravity ball, i would choose C. Brilliant Ring.

However, do note that this conclusion SHOULT NOT BE GENERALIZED.

The answer to the question should depends on your current stats, potential, target monster and your skill.

You have to go through the steps above on your own when making choices.

I will probably have to make another article on how to calculate stats based on your potential, heraldry and stuff soon. After learning all these, you can easily evaluate the gain from each gear and decide which is the best gear for you.
